Welcome to Los Angeles Gastroenterology Clinic. We wish to acquaint you with our physician, Dr. S. Radi Shamsi, a Southern California local. He completed his undergraduate training at UCLA, where he double majored in Biology and Anthropology. After graduating Cum Laude, with Departmental Honors, and having been awarded the Distinguished Scholar of the Year award, Dr. Shamsi began his medical career at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine. Having graduated amongst the top students in his class, Dr. Shamsi spent the following three years at the USC-Keck School of medicine in the department of gastroenterology and hepatology. Having mastered diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, Dr. Shamsi specialized further in the diseases of the biliary tree and pancreas (called ERCP).
Philosophy: I feel my duty is to urge my patients to live life to its fullest. My desire in the practice of medicine is to aid them to perform at their maximum potential. I try to work with patients on diet plans, medication regimens and physical activity that incorporate patients likes, dislikes and, lifestyle.
The risk for colon cancer is decreased by approximately 96% with regular surveillance colonoscopy. These preventative measures, and educating patients on the ease with which they may be performed are a few of the reasons I chose gastroenterology as a subspecialty.
